Osa Bella, What now?

by Myg on October 14, 2010

Have you finished reading Osa Bella and want to know what’s next? If so, you’ve come to the right blog post, because I’m about to tell you!

(If you’re new here, welcome! Hope you enjoy the ride. You can get .pdfs of all the chapters by clicking the “Chapter Index” tab above, or by clicking the “fanfiction.net” tab above, which takes you to my profile (scroll down for Osa Bella).

First of all, we have the Fandom Gives Back, donations to Alex’s Lemonade Stand, Edward Point of View Outtake:

And the winner is………….Chapter 21! This outtake will begin this at the end of Chapter 20, and go through the end of Chapter 21. Let me just say, I am very excited to write this. I’ve been thinking about it for months now, to be honest, so I’m glad this is what the majority ruled on! (And PS? I voted for this one.) As for the other choices, there may be other fundraisers that I may pull those for, and you know I’ll let you know if that happens.

Speaking of which, I am going to write a Mercy Brown fic for Fandom for Preemies.

Now I’m saying this as I have just one short week to write and have it beta’d, so hell, now I’m nervous. But I really need to write this fic because my own sons were born 5 weeks early due to pre-eclampsia, and I was in and out of the hospital multiple times from 26 weeks on due to contractions. I was very blessed that my kids, while born early and small, were perfectly healthy.  And here they are today:

Their good health is due in large part due to the advances in medical science promoted by the March of Dimes, the recipient of the proceeds from this auction.

My contribution to Fandom for Preemies Compilation will be the story of Mercy Brown meeting Edward Cullen. This takes place in the 1970s, in Maine, decades before Edward meets Bella. I recognize that this fic won’t be to everyone’s taste, but it has been knocking around in my head for a few weeks, so I have to write it. I trust my muse, what can I say?

Even if this fic isn’t to your taste, you should still donate because there are tons of great writers 0n the bill, including my own good pal and beta, TexasKatherine (of Going Down), SuzsPetals (of The Family Business), AGirlReckoning (Red Letter Year),  Holly1980 (Keeping the Faith and the Sovereign Six) and wow – just so many more.

So I hope you’ll consider it! Donations start in November.

As soon as that’s done, I am going to write the FGB EPOV outtake. I may – or honestly, may not – get this done before 11/1. If I don’t get it done by 11/1, it won’t be done until December, and I’m very sorry about this. But the reason is, I’m going to be participating in National Novel Writing Month (with a bunch of you, right? RIGHT?) and I won’t have time to write it in November. So I am going to bust my ass to get it done before 11/1. But it can’t suck, so I can’t rush it just to get it done by then. I will keep those of you on Team Osa Bella in the loop via twitter (follow me @Myg). If you’re not on Team Osa Bella but would like to get your hands on the EPOV, please contact me at the email listed under the Contact tab above. We’ll talk.

And then there’s an epilogue, which is half way through the very first draft. That’s going to be finished sometime after the EPOV. I apologize, but with a job, two kids, and a husband, and everything else? That’s the best I can do on a timeframe right now.

Once the epilogue is done, I will be compiling the entire thing, including the outtakes, the playlists and some other extra goodies into hardbound copies for the FGB Auction winner (I’m looking at you, Anna_Faze), and our door prize winner from the FOOOORRRKKKS Twitardedcon 2010. Some of you have asked how you can get a copy of the bound book. The truth is, I don’t think I can sell these legally if I do more than a couple of hard bound copies for charity. That said, I will probably offer them again for auction in future FGB fundraisers.

Are you an Osa Bella reader on Twitter? Holla so I can folla!

I am over the moon right now. My heart is racing, I’m looking at my bank account trying to figure out how much I can set aside for the Fandom for Preemies… Myg! A Mercy Brown fic? Yes! You are one busy momma (quite literally!), I don’t know how you do it. But I am so grateful for it, and you know….if you have a buy 2 get one free on the hardbound copies…My birthday is Nov. 4 :) I’ll even wait til Christmas if I have to!

I am obnoxiously excited right now. Congrats on your awesomesauce, and I totally voted for Ch. 21. AAAAHHH!!! I’m so flipping excited! ..::dances around the room::..

Never apologize, please! Your workload is staggering. That you are also able to write, er, not just write, but inspire, and raise your family, stay married, blows me away.

Whatever you write, I’ll read. I love the idea of more outtakes and worthy causes. Fandom Rules!

Myg – My weeone was born at 34 weeks thanks to preeclampsia as well…I’d donate to this cause regardless…just to get a hot little slice of heaven called “Mercy does Edward”. I’m totally looking foward to that backstory….is that a pun? Or is it not a pun? ;D Only time will tell me. The EPOV? In my eyes there was NO other choice than Ch.21. Now shoo….get off your blog. Go write something delicious!
